Hotel
Santo Mauro in Madrid is
located in the heart of Madrid's Chamberi neighborhood, very
near the Paseo de la Castellana. This was the area where at
the end of the 19th century the Spanish nobility established
their residences and their small palace mansions. One of these
palaces, today's AC Santo Mauro, saw its 100th anniversary
in 1994. It was built at the orders of the Duke of Santo Mauro
and its remarkable French influence is due to the work of
French architect Louis Legrand. The old palace library - conditioned
as a restaurant - and the ballrooms, now conference rooms,
with access to the garden, have been kept unchanged. Restored
in 1999, the hotel combines the classical style of its architecture
with avant-garde and contemporary elements. |
